These past 3 months have gone so fast! And yet I have seen and experienced far more in those 3 months than I would at home for MANY years.
You truly do loose yourself in the work when you stay focussed. You also know that you are loosing yourself in the work when you are a missionary in your dreams. I am truly two feet in the field!
It was such an amazing and happy experience. Verlicity has been taught for at least 6 months and it has taken a lot of work and effort, but she was finally ready, and when she was baptised it was a really happy experience, both for her, but also for us. There was such a great happiness in the air when she was baptised! So very exciting and motivating for us to push on and continue in the work!
It didn't come without its challenges as we had a few last day issues to sort such as the clothing was in Klergsdorp, an 80 minute round-trip, which we got on the morning of the baptism but it is all good learning for the future as we can only become better by learning from practical experience. Getting under the water to be baptised can also be a challenge for people if they are not used to it but we got there in the end after 3 attempts.
This week we also managed to get 8 new investigators and teach 15 lessons we are still soldiering on and things are looking really up.
Elder Bonifaz is a great missionary and we are working hard together. Because if we don't work then the Lord can't bless his children or us!
Another funny experience this week to learn from was when we ran out of electricity this week (Friday night) but hopefully will be getting some more today, so it was planning by torch light! We didn't know that it was prepaid and it takes like 3 days for them to put the money on our card, so we will see what happens today.
Yes I am now doing all the driving so I am getting plenty miles of experience behind me and South Africa can be a crazy place to drive.
Yesterday at church I also saw a brother who had come to do some area business and he is married to a woman who was in the same mission at the same time as my dad. Small world. It was very nice to meet him.
Good to hear about everything at home. Tell everyone that we love to get letters.
And as you can see my face is healing nicely :-)
Take care, love to you all.
Elder Jack Jorgensen
