This week has been great!
We were able to get back into contact with some of our investigators that had been dropping off the radar, so we were able to get them back, and most of them came to church as well! It was awesome!
So we had 12 at church this week!! (3 in the first ward and 9 in the second)
But the best thing was these two sisters.
So these two sisters, one is Jessica the other is Loretta. We have been teaching their mother for quite some time now, ever since I came into the area. So she runs this daycare creche, and we often go, but recently the two daughters are now interested so we started teaching them!
One of them, Loretta, really wants to come closer to God. She feels like she is struggling with temptation and wants to do what is right, so we have not so much been teaching her the lessons but more of teaching HER the gospel. And it's going really well! She loves it and wants to know more.
Then Jessica, we had a really funny lesson. So we've taught her about the Restoration and everything, and she kinda gets it, and she reads the Book of Mormon. Anyway, we were sitting in a lesson with her, and she wanted to know more about prayer and how to pray. So we started going over prayer, then she starts telling us about how when she goes to her church, everybody stands up and prays out loud, and is asking God for things. Now she was confused because she doesn't like to pray like that. When she prays she just wants to thank God for the things that she has. And people at her church have started saying things to her about not praying properly and what is wrong with you etc.
So we read Matthew with her, about the hypocrites and praying in the synagogues. After we read that she says she's confused. We ask why and she says that what is said in the Bible, and what is happening at her church are completely the opposite. So we're both sitting there thinking the obvious.
We just kinda stared at her for a moment....... it was quite funny actually.
So we read the scripture about how God is not the author of confusion, and THEN she was like: maybe I should just stop going to church and read the Bible by myself..... (D&C 123:12 going through our heads) So we explained to her about how we are offering her the true church!
BUT AMAZINGLY she came to church this week!! It was awesome to see them there
The other one is a girl named Tshegofatso
She is a really nice girl, and funny how we met her, so we were actually teaching her sister, who was the girlfriend (now ex) of the cousin of a member, but was staying at the member's house.
Anyway, she moved back to her home, and while we were teaching her there we met her sister!
Now the original girl (Mbali) has moved out of the area, but we are still teach
ing Tshego. So we went and after waiting for her movie to finish... we had a really in-depth conversation about coming closer to God and how to find him and everything, it was awesome!!!
The last is Millicent, we've been working with her for a while to help her progress towards baptism, and there is something in her way, she hasn't told us yet, so we've been working on trying to get a good relationship with her, and with a lot of our investigators, and we just do it by investing time in them. And they open up a lot, I feel like we are really teaching people the gospel, and not just lessons
Big news, Swaziland is going to become a part of our mission!! We are getting 6 new areas!! So we shall see what happens there! But for me I don't want to go! I want to stay in Centurion! I like it here.
