This week has been a pretty good week, lots going on and things have been going well
Firstly the missionary work is okay for now. We've recontacted with a couple of investigators. One of the big ones was a guy named Phule. Phule has been taught before, but never made much progress. But one of the great things was we were around his area, and our appointment dropped, so we decided to go check on him. So we did and turns out that he was there, but also said that he wanted to change! He was ready for us and was willing to start trying to do his best! So we are really excited for him!
One of the other ones was a mother named Paulina. So Paulina is the mother of a deceased member. We have been visiting there a few times, teaching the plan of salvation. It was quite interesting when we were teaching about resurrection and also about life after death! It was quite nice actually because she is really enjoying it. But the best moment was when we went yesterday, we finally managed to move things on to the restoration, as she had been reading the pamphlet about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and had questions about being rebaptized. So it was a really good lesson. Showed her the scripture in 3 Nephi 27:8 about it being Jesus's church then it must be called in his name!
We also had another interesting lesson this week. So we were teaching these 2 guys and were sliding in verses from the Book of Mormon for them. Then the friend caught us and said that he had this app that answered questions from the bible. So he pulls it up and searches the Book of Mormon. Comes with this question: "How should Christians view the Book of Mormon?"
I'm like, uh-oh. Well turns out to be this whole thing of anti-mormon article. The funniest part though was that the attack of the article wasn't anything about the Book of Mormon. It said that it was actually pretty good. It's main attack was Joseph Smith! It was citing these 2 tests from the Deuteronomy about a person being a prophet. 1. Prophesying and coming true. 2. Leading to the correct God. So it gave these 2 examples but didn't disprove either! They cited the prophecy of the civil war in D&C, which was fulfilled.... and then also claimed that we weren't teaching a biblical God because we claim that God was once a man like us..... ah it was all very funny, but I wasn't too phased by it.
It was really funny because they were setting out what the Mormon missionaries would do when they visited, and they got it perfect. They were reading and in my head, I was like.... mmh hmmm, that's exactly what we do :')
Also! We had another MTC experience this week. It was awesome. Got the same missionaries again, and while they were assigning companionships to each other, they asked for us to stand up (Soweto Missionaries). So I stood up, pointed to one of the missionaries and said I want him. And I got him! It is Elder Maluleka. He is a member from Birch Acres that is going to Zimbabwe on his mission! So it was awesome. Taught a lesson and found some people. Again it was funny to see how naturally contacting people comes to me now!
The best part though was that it was held in Protea Glen!! My old area!!! They were having a ward activity for women's day! I got to see the Khubeka family, and also Masiza!! The guy that I baptized!!!!! I was so happy to see him and he is still very active! So it was awesome!
Something that I think you will be proud of is that I cooked and ate (and made my companion eat) broccoli this week! TWICE! ha ha, you had a good effect on me!
Still eating well, and I'm the one doing all the cooking, which I really don't mind because my companion does all the dishes ;)
One of the weirdest things that happened this week was we were sitting in the car, just arrived at an appointment, and we were literally about to get out and go teach, when this random guy gets in the car!! No idea who he was, just got in and sat there! So we asked, what are you doing?!?! He said that someone had told him to get in the car!
So he sits in the car for a while and then our member present convinces him to get out the car by telling him that he's in the wrong car..... but that he should get in that other car down the road! ha ha It worked!!
So that was our crazy week!
