Our week was really good this week, we had some really great experiences which have been amazing!
Mostly they center around finding some new investigators to be teaching!
So one of the first was a media referral who had requested a Book of Mormon. Her name is Rosalia, we call her and schedule an appointment, and she is very excited to meet with us!
So we go and at first, we go to the wrong house! Leave and realize that it is actually next door, so we go and knock on the main house, we ask for the person and they tell us that it is the name of the dead grandma..... so we stand there for a couple of seconds, thinking, a little confused..... did a dead lady refer us here? Well turns out it is actually the daughter, and she stays in a separate building in the same plot. So we go, meet her, sit down, and it was interesting, she has 2 daughters, Tshepiso (20) and Kumo (17). And Kumo asked permission if she could join us! So I was a little surprised, obviously said yes, and invited the older sister if she wanted to join as well, which she did. Taught them a great lesson and they are very interested. Asked when we could come back and they said tomorrow!
So we went back the next day, only problem was that their stepfather was there and said that we can only come once a week. The daughters were not happy, and visibly upset.... but we are going back today and going to see what we can do.
The other one was a woman named Lilyan.
So we met this woman on the street and asked if we could come and teach her, she said yes, gave us her address and phone number. When we went to the house, this other lady answered the door. We asked for Lilyan and she eyed us suspiciously and asked us what it was for. We say church and then she invites us in.
As it turns out, the other lady, who answered the door, her name is Lilyan!! She stays there with her 2 youngest kids, and no other sign of the first lady!
What the other miracle was that we had no restoration pamphlets that morning, but when I reached into my bag, there was one! I am convinced it was a miracle. She seems ready for the gospel too! She lost her husband 10 years ago, and she herself is ill (HIV) but has survived. I am convinced that she has been saved to hear the gospel!
Apart from that not much else, my companion is a fantastic missionary. He is very humble and a nice guy. We've been able to talk openly and frequently about things and I think he is a great companion!
That's about it for the week really, not much else to talk about!
I love the members here in Soweto, they are all so nice and very kind!
That's my week!
I told my companion just yesterday that coming on a mission has changed me, primarily in the fact that I started living the gospel, not because I knew it was the right thing to do, or even because I knew I should, but because I wanted to and I live it for the purpose of loving God.
